about this blog

The Simple Treasure is about the joy of finding or creating special things.

Many of us don't have life all figured out. Our lives may feel chaotic and stressful at times but when we use our creativity or spend time treasure hunting, we feel alive and happy.

When I was young, I loved to hunt for and make treasures.

I had various treasure boxes.  One year, I had a sturdy shoebox.  In it was a deck of cards with a pink floral design in a little plastic hinged box I had decorated, some sparkly jewelry (my grandmother would give me single earrings that had lost their mate or brooches that had lost a stone), a little porcelain container that had once housed lip gloss, an Avon "perfume" compact, a Native American beaded item that might have originally been a belt or part of a costume, a coin purse which was a souvenir from a family trip, polished rocks that I had purchased at the state fair, shells I had found on the beach, coins from countries my parents visited and a tubes of tiny beads from the local dime store.

I've never outgrown my love of looking for or making my own treasures.  Whether it's beach-combing, making jewelry or looking in antique malls for the 1970's cartoon glasses to complete the collection.

This blog is dedicated to all the creative treasure makers and hunters out there who can spend a whole day looking for beach glass, another whole day sorting it and yet another day displaying it, or who can spend hours looking through cookbooks and days more making beautiful Christmas cookies that are then wrapped in beautiful packages.

Most of us don't have the luxury of spending whole days on these things as life's demands often don't allow it but this blog is to remind us of the things we love to do that, when we take the time to indulge in them, can make time stand still.

Whatever it is you do for a living, may you always have the inspiration to create something or hunt for treasures in your spare time.
